There’s nothing you can do is meant as- There is nothing a you can do as there isn’t a you and the receiver normaly
hear -there is nothing I can do, believing themselves to be that I.
But even under the delusion of a story of I, actions are taken
according to the story. Probably all of your life is being determined by
the story of what is happening. In this sense, awakening is a sham. Awakening
is merely the seeing through of one small story in a vast encyclopaedia of
story. On seeing through I folk often say that life carries on the same. What they probably mean is that- I’m continuing to
live under the delusion of all my other stories except the I one. So a
search is the story of a search. Calling it off is the story of calling it
off. There’s nothing you can do is the story of there’s nothing you can
do. We see stories, live stories. And stories live us. There is no
separation. We are walking-talking story-dreamers.
I saw one so-called teacher saying,
“there nothing you can do to see this and seeing might happen”. Again,
the “you” is targetted at the fictional self but heard as me. Being told to
call off the search is part of the story of the search. The story of this
particular search drops when the story of the seeker/I is seen through. The
search continues though. The search is life. This search has no end,
no goal, no need, it’s a roller-coaster and it’s compulsory, because it is.
