it appears that most seekers have created a fantasy within their minds about what ultimate freedom is. Because essentially, it cannot be grasped or known unless one has had a personal, direct, first-hand experience. Merely hearing or reading words that describe what awake from the world is like can cause one to easily confuse it with awake in the world. That's why a direct experience is a prerequisite for accurate comprehension. Without it, huge problems can ensue. Confusion, disappointment, feeling stuck, fear, anger and frustration about not seeing one’s desired outcome appear can all be at the root of assuming we are after one movement when in actuality we may be after the other one. With the wrong understanding and application of tools and practices we may not make any headway to get us where we may want to be going. The trouble is that the same words are utilized to describe both movements. The terms Enlightenment, Awakening, Truth-Realization, Self-Realization, Living from True Self or Real Self or Higher Self or Evolutionary Nature or Spirit or Soul, etc. are applied freely and interchangeably as if there was only one movement. But that is incorrect. There happen to be two movements - and two very different ones, indeed. The pity is that no clear delineation exists as to what exactly each word stands for and means. This makes it almost impossible for someone unfamiliar with the true nature of each movement to know what’s what. To make matters worse, these words have now become hip words in our Western culture. I have seen them employed to promote food stuff, laundry detergent, cars and car tires. To make this all infinitely more convoluted, if we now throw into the mix the phrases Living Your Dreams, Follow Your Bliss, Go After What You Want, You Can Have Anything You Desire, Create Your Own Reality and You Are In Charge Of Your Own Life nobody will know anymore what's what.
