The Little Me

Our "little me", our conditioned, illusionary self gets upset when it's beliefs do not match what's happening. Because we believe we are this false self and because we are invested in getting what this "limited self" wants. In being right, in getting love and acceptance, in defending its idea of itself, in protecting this limited self image from getting hurt or rejected, the "little me" will try to control people and situations to match these beliefs. In doing so, we miss the lesson that life is teaching us. We forget that this "me" is not who we are, that it is only an old mental pattern that we are giving power by our belief. This "me" that we think we are seeks happiness when everything is fixed in our life, when all of its attachments and expectations are met. Unless we see this limited self as just a thought and not who we are, we will keep strengthening our ego, missing the lesson of who we truly are as the Aware Presence in which these old patterns come and go.... constantly believing in the false never happy with the way things are right now.
