If you go to see a movie, do you
think it’s real? No, -you know it’s a movie, an illusion. You may have moments
of identification, but they are just moments. Overall, you understand you are
in a theatre, and that what’s going on is an illusion. If you’d never been
outside the movie theatre, then you would view what was going on as real, but
not if you ever stepped outside and the mind noticed the difference. You’ve
stepped outside the movie theatre, but your mind still has the story of you in
it. The story doesn’t go just because it’s fiction. But because it’s seen to be
fiction, its ability to trap is fatally weakened.
So stay on it, get real with it, hit it, dig into
it—if it’s real it can take it. It’s just seeing what is not there. Any time
you have an emotion or a feeling, look behind it. What is there?
Exactly—nothing. Uniqueness of the embodiment of life is real. But
self? Something owning life? A central control, a manager?—no. And don’t take
my word for it—don’t fall into that trap. Instead, investigate.
Is this true?
