A change of perception

Enlightenment is a change of perception - in how reality is seen. But this shift in perception change everything -the  way life is lived, and it change nothing at all. Reality does not change, but for the dream character life changes a lot. If you perceive that your life changed, for better or worse, you improve or became wiser, closer to enlightenment or you feel enlightened, you are asleep and dreaming… you are not a dream character, sooner or later reality will reveal itself to itself, and the question about one's enlightenment drops…all questions drop…nothing to seek, nothing to reach for…just live life as it is.

A letter of love

As the human I always move to that which is more pleasurable. No matter what. Even in the act of saving someone, that to comes from the movement towards pleasure. Always. As a human I pick my own benefit every time. While we have the same destinations, same goals, we will float together like two logs flowing down the river. I am sorry for all the times as the human I picked me over you - I couldn't help it that was my programming, I am set up to do that. I am set up to make mistakes and be selfish and to change and to have constantly different opinions. I am sorry for the production of thoughts which think they know anything about anything, I am sorry that sometimes I take them more seriously and I argue with your thoughts but I can't help it - I am set up that way. I am sorry for wanting to be right and even believing that. It's nothing personal it’s just this machine is wired that way. I am sorry for any pain or rejection I have caused or any time I didn't reflect back your divinity. I want to but I am human and I have to move, always moving….
But as beingness I love you beyond any type of love in this world. Any type of word or expression. Everything is wiped clean in every instant and nothing is held to. It's gone my mistakes and your mistakes as well. But also your joyous beautiful presence. It all goes and appears as if it never happened. It's so free to express in anyway - all its colors, the mistakes of the humans and the beauty of them. This love is so free it is nothing in this world but at the same time not outside it. But if this beautiful appearance of the human doesn't appear and be program just as it’s programmed I wouldn't get to look at you.

Krishna said "My true being is unborn and changeless. I am the Lord who dwells in every creature. Through the power of my own maya, I manifest myself in a finite form"

Wanting

I want to know what you really want. To be like .....? To be like someone else? To be in a continuous state of something or other? To be in (insert whatever you want here)? Try my take on for size. You want to be free of wanting. But you go about it by wanting something. If it was easy this world would be a very different place. Head it off at the pass. Not by wanting more, but by wanting to know who it is that is consumed by all the wanting...tangentially.

The only possible avenue for you to want is for you to be something. Nothing wants for nothing. Something is always wanting for more and mostly in an effort to make it more of a something. Now, because your something is actually nothing, it's very insecure, hence the tendency to jump to anything that promises something. The highest teaching will only offer you nothing, hence, it's not an easy sell. Mental bangles, sparkles, excitement, change the world, yourself, your finances. IT IS ALL APPEARING IN A COMIC BOOK AND THAT INCLUDES THE YOU YOU THINK YOU ARE.

We are all just caricatures in a comic. The writer is One and the same ink is used for us all. But, he/she gives us different shapes and colors and story lines. The characters that we are hallucinate that we are the comic writer. Typical and understandable because we inherently know of our profound inability to change the comic book, only the writer can change the story. Try as we may, we can do nothing, other than realize we are the drafted up characters in a story written by 'other than ourselves'. Further, there is nothing substantial to us. Just try to change reality. Go for it. I'm not talking about changing the future, that's even more ridiculous. Watch that person crossing the street and condemn her, deny her, stop her from walking, make her more beautiful or homely, make her loveable or despicable.

You cannot change reality, only label it and play games with those labels, but ALL IN YOUR HEAD... nothing more or less. Set out to change something, let's say make it a sunny day tomorrow. It works, OMG it's sunny, YOU did it! What happened was your wish was aligned with the writer's, nothing more or less. Watch how your mind rebels against this, but rebel as it may, it cannot change anything other than the story that is stuck in it... your story... make it good or bad, I hate to tell you that not a single person in the world gives a damn because they are too busy making up and rearranging their own stories. What to do, well... nothing really. There is absolutely nothing you can do. In my opinion, just relaxing, sitting back, observing, and remembering to breathe is about the best you can do. Just be with what is, not what your story is, but what really is. It's simple, just let go of all wanting and all illusion of control. What could be simpler. Doesn't it make sense that if you actually have no control, why bother struggling for some. How about just bringing you attention to the story being revealed. Do you think the comic book writer is not competent? Could a comic character ever really hurt or be hurt by another character? Have you noticed how serious you and other characters can get?

The world

Supposedly, the world as we know it is just an illusion. All of our ordinary everyday life is nothing but an appearance in consciousness – not some special magical consciousness, but simply our ordinary everyday field of experience – and as such, it’s not only the substratum of that experience, but the ultimate reality of everything. In other words, there is no material objective universe. There is no time and space out there. There is only experience; only sense perceptions – just like in a dream. But unlike a dream, there’s no real reality outside. There’s nothing outside of these perceptions – there is no outside.
Since I knew that we could never verify what’s beyond our own experience, it seemed to me that this new alternative model was at least logically viable. One of the infinitely many possibilities, I thought, was that there’s absolutely nothing out there – but that would also be infinitely unlikely. But according to that same logic, our ordinary consensus model of reality—the universe-model—would then also be infinitely unlikely; it would just be another one of infinitely many possibilities.

The secret ...

This is the same message as Jesus or Buddha or all the Zen Masters, but striped of any tradition, lineage, or dogmas. Once, this message used to be the secret mystical teaching that only those who had been practicing, or on the spiritual path for many years, and had attained certain spiritual qualifications to prove that he was ready, could have access to. It was greatly respected because it was understood to be truly dangerous to those who might misinterpret it. Now, in our modern age of technology this message is much more freely available (and more open to misinterpretation). However, this does not mean that it is not still mortally dangerous to what you think about yourself. If there is any kind of crack in your belief system, this message can really destroy your life as you think you know it. But if you already feel that the life you have been living, is only one pretence after another, then you are willing to risk it all, to wake up to what is true. This is the courage to stand alone.
I have no tradition. I have no lineage. I have no permission to speak from some nice old man. I stand naked with nothing to hold on to and no back-up. And yet, as Life itself, there is no way to prevent this pouring out of what is true.

How du you feel right now?

Often when you ask someone, 'How do you feel right now?', they will launch into a story ABOUT their feelings, a tale about the past and future, about who did what to whom and when, a personal narrative involving blame, justification and opinion.

A better question, perhaps, is, 'What's going on in your body right now?'. Feelings do not happen in the past and future - only stories do. Feelings, true feelings, always happen now, in the body. Feelings are alive, immediate, dynamic, and they ask for present-moment attention and exploration. The rest is a story about the past and future, and that story can so easily be a distraction from what's present...

It's helpful to distinguish between feelings (present, bodily, first-hand and alive) and abstract mental judgements, projections and opinions.

For healing can only truly begin when we dare to contact what is ALIVE.

Life and Death

The fixed belief in a division between life and death, is a great misunderstanding. There is no identifiable location from which things are born, or to which they return and so, there is no place to die. Nor is there a human species or self who from out of nowhere becomes conscious. We are of the world.

There are relative, conventional differences between life and death, loss and gain, mind and matter, the animate and inanimate, that are of consequence. The issue is to note that these contrasts are dependently arisen, dependently identified and therefore without their own nature. The understanding of interdependence avoids the extremes that phenomena must either independently exist or not exist at all.

The appreciation that everything reflects everything else, is the undoing of the belief in inherent separateness and along with it, conflict and fear. Under these conditions, the heart opens. There is the recognition that even the autumn leaf is not fundamentally different from the spring leaf. The autumn leaf is life, in a borderless, impermanent flux of causal continuance. It never was itself, and so the appearance of its ultimate death is an illusion.

Tru -man

The movie is a basic parable of the journey of awakening from delusion. At the end of his journey, Truman Burbank escapes through the final door into freedom from the artificial environment - Seahaven - in which he was raised. He steps through the door into a broader reality that is essentially the same world he’s always known, but on a larger scale; same paradigm, same dynamics, same everything really, just one level up. Just like Neo in The Matrix, Truman doesn’t escape from Maya, he just leaps from one turtle to the next.

“Your whole life has been moving toward this; you’ve undergone crisis after crisis, fought battle after battle, destroyed illusion after illusion. You’ve been living in a state of unrelenting emotional upheaval as your world collapsed around you, you’ve made a great journey, and now you’re about to discover the truth of your being. You’re about to leave the only reality you’ve ever known and step into a new, bigger reality you’ve never seen and only recently began to suspect.

In the movie-metaphor, Truman is just stepping out of a microcosm into the regular cosm we all know; it’s really the same paradigm he’s known in the vast soundstage of Seahaven, but on a different scale.

Her

The difference between the liberated one, or rather: liberation, and individuality is that when an emotion like anger arises, it just arises for no one, but all the time there’s an individual who thinks it’s his anger; that happening to him, that he owns it. In individuality there’s always an ownership of everything. In liberation there’s no one that owns the anger, but still the anger can arise, as it did before for no one. In individuality the so-called person keeps thinking it’s happening to him. In liberation it’s simply anger, happening to no one.
In liberation there is no witness. That’s over. In awakening there can be a witness, and even before awakening there can be a witness, but in liberation there isn’t even something that is aware of manifestation. There is just being, whatever is. Everything is perfect.

Mark Twain

...a God who could make good children as easily a bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave is angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice, and invented hell--mouths mercy, and invented hell--mouths Golden Rules and foregiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people, and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites his poor abused slave to worship him!

There isn’t anyone there.

A lot of people don't come back to this message, because they don’t want to hear ‘There is no one, and there’s nothing that can be done’. That’s not attractive to them. It leaves no hope. People want to hear that there is hope, and that they can do something.
But the point is, you see, that in liberation there is no one there to communicate things, there is no agenda, there is no motive, there’s just what’s happening. So there is no motivation to capture people, or to make people believe this or that. It’s just someone standing there, responding and speaking, without any idea of going anywhere. Because, as far as the speaker…as far as liberation is concerned, the audience is already liberated. So basically, it’s not a teaching, it’s a sharing of something already known, a remembering. It is already totally known, but not by the mind. There are people who think they come to get something, and then they suddenly recognize that it’s actually about losing something, and there’s a sort of recognition of something already known, not by them, but by One. Oneness knows there is only Oneness, but it pretends it doesn’t. So people come and pretend that they aren’t One.

More to lose ?

For many spiritual people, spirituality is a walk in the park on a sunny day, bubbling with pretty notions of peace on earth and good will toward men. It's softcore spirituality, full of soft focus and soft lighting and soft music, everything soft and fluffy, all moving towards some earthshaking climax that never seems to materialize. Anyone involved in the actual process of awakening would view such frivolity the way men on a bloody battlefield view children playing war in backyards. You talk about a revolution, but revolutions aren't like afternoon tea parties with fine china and extended pinkies - they're hellish nightmares from which you can't wake up. Real spirituality is a savage insurrection, the oppressed rising up in a do-or-die bid for freedom. It's not something people do to improve themselves or earn merit or impress friends or to find greater joy and meaning in life. It's a suicidal assault on a foe of unimaginable superiority. Like David and Goliath. Our Goliath is large and powerful and cunning and all-seeing. Our David is puny and weak and stupid and blind. He has no advantage in this fight whatsoever, except the heart to fight and his rock. We can think of the rock as truth, and truth is the giant-killer. Truth destroys everything. Goliath has every power and advantage except truth, and that's why we can fight and win; we have truth and Maya doesn't. Still, it's not a one-shot deal where David throws the rock and Goliath tips over dead. It's a long, ugly struggle because we are both friend and foe- David and Goliath reside within. Every inch of ground takes everything we have. Lessons aren't delivered as quaint little parables and allegories, but as irreparable losses, lesson after lesson, loss after loss. Every step is a loss and as long as there's more to lose, there are more steps to take. Everything is lost. Nothing is gained.
